On July
27, 2006, residents in SAD 46 voted overwhelmingly to locate the new K-8
school on the Fern Road
in Dexter.
The cost to construct and furnish this school is estimated to be $29+
million with the vast majority of the cost borne by the state. Every
effort is being made to limit the impact on local tax dollars. Final
local costs will be determined before the local referendum vote on the new
school.

The two-story school will incorporate
the "neighborhood school" design concept with separate primary
and middle school learning centers.
A straw vote on the final Concept Design of the school will be held later
this fall, followed by a referendum vote to proceed with the project,
possibly in December or January. Input on the final design is needed. If
you would like to volunteer or receive more information on the project,
