Living in Ukraine has become worse
As of 1 November 2010. in Ukraine, according to Goskomstat, the population was 45 808 thousand. During January-October 2010. population has decreased by 154.1 thousand. This natural decrease of population of Ukraine is one of the most significant among European countries.
The population declined by only natural reduction - by 167.0 thousand. And, in comparison with January-November 2009 size reduction of the natural population increased by 12.5 thousand
The reduction of the Ukrainian population was due to fertility decline. In January-November 2009. birth rate was 11.3 children per 1,000 residents, in January-November 2010. birth rate declined to 10.9 per 1,000 population. Mortality rates remained at the same level of -15.3 person. per 1,000 inhabitants.
In January-November 2010. in Ukraine the population growth was 12.9 thousand, where immigrants from the CIS accounted for 77.7%, and from other countries - 22.3%.
This trend indicates that the standard of living, at least, not increased as mortality has remained at the same level.
Fertility declining was due to deteriorating economic conditions in Ukraine. From what we can conclude that in Ukraine for the past 10 months, compared with the previous year, it became harder to live.
